GNU/Linux Hardware Compatibility
From BinaryFreedom.INFO
(Redirected from GNU/Linux Hardware Compatbility)
One of the main problems facing wide-scale adoption of GNU/Linux systems is Hardware Compatibility. Many vendors simply release proprietary drivers for Microsoft Windows. As a result, GNU/Linux users can't use their hardware without windows. Some vendors release access specs to their hardware, release linux drivers, and even open up their firmware! This project is meant to catalog hardware open-ness across platforms to help consumers make choices when buying hardware and help activists reach companies to thank them or complain about their closed-doors policies.
